Summary
Mario inspects a strange bush in Slipslide Swamp and is swallowed and carried off by a Fuzzbush. Inside a treehouse, its handler Mudzie realizes they grabbed THE Mario by mistake, spits him out, and strikes an uneasy deal to keep quiet, leaving Mario closer to his destination.
Scene 1 - EXT. Slipslide Swamp
After venturing through Slipslide Swamp for a while, Mario approaches a large bush with a peculiar pattern near the center. He steps towards it to take a closer look.
As his face inches closer to the bush, a faint rustling can be heard behind the pattern. Then, in an instant, the leaves part vertically, a strong suction grabs Mario, pulling him into the bush as he screams in surprise.
FADE TO BLACK
As we fade back into view, a Fuzzbush is seen walking into a treehouse in a completely different section of the swamp. Once inside, it comes to a stop and spits out a brown colored Fuzzy.
???: "Say, Brumble, don't you think that guy we gobbled up earlier looked a smudge familiar?"
Brumble rustles his leaves, looking confused.
???: "C'mon! Help me out here you big leafy oaf! That stache, those overalls... Wait, did we snatch up MARIO?!"
Brumble seems to brush off the revelation.
???: "This ain't no splashing matter, Brumble! We snack on THE Mario and the whole world'll come sniffing for us! We've got a good thing going here, no reason in risking it for ONE meal!"
Due to his hunger, Brumble still refuses to acknowledge the gravity of the situation.
???: "Clearly, your mind is in the mud. This is way too risky. I'm putting my fuzz down! Spit 'em out now! We'll act like this was all one big misunderstanding. Make it extra splashy, too. Gotta sell the drama."
With a violent shake, Brumble reluctantly coughs Mario onto the floor of the treehouse, launching him out in a spray of mud and leaves. Mario slides across the floorboards a few feet before getting up and eyeing the two with frustration.
MUDZIE: "Heh... hey there, Mario! I'm Mudzie. Seems there's been a bit of a... mix-up."
Mario's anger turns to confusion as he examines his new surroundings.
MUDZIE: "Just a tiny misunderstanding. Yeah, that's what we'll call it! We were actually waiting for a DIFFERENT mustachioed man to splash by our hiding bush. He's of similar stature to you! Accidents happen!"
Mario's speculation is painfully visible in his expression.
MUDZIE: "Tell you what, how 'bout I let you run free and we forget this mess ever happened, huh? I don't know where you're headed, but we're on the western edge of the swamp now. Maybe we actually put you within splashing distance of your destination."
Mario, still frustrated, begins to consider that this could have been a blessing in disguise.
MUDZIE: "No need to thank me, muddy buddy! Just keep your mouth shut about all this, will ya'? It was an honest mistake, promise! You help us out here, and maybe Brumble an' I can offer some assistance down the line. Sound like a deal?"
Mario reluctantly gives a thumbs up.
MUDZIE: "I would shake your hand, but uh… Well, just look at me."
Mario is now free to leave the treehouse and continue onward.
After leaving the treehouse, transitions to the final third of Slipslide Swamp
